Step Up Construction – 2021
This August Inspire Suffolk will be kicking off the 2021/22 Step Up programme, which will begin with Step Up Construction. The Step Up Construction programme is delivered across 2 weeks, with learners obtaining their L1 Health & Safety and prepping for their CSCS card test, which is all fully funded.
Our Step Up tutor, Tony, knows a thing or two when it comes CSCS cards, and is known for supporting students through their qualification on the Step Up programme. With growing demand for construction workers across all of East Anglia, and with large projects such as EDF Sizewell C offering thousands of potential job opportunities during construction phase, this programme will equip learners to start their careers and land a job in this high-demand sector.
“Construction was always something I considered as an option. Obviously, the pandemic has meant that jobs are short and if you’re unemployed there are limited options. Construction is always essential – you always need construction workers. So, I thought, as I don’t know how long the pandemic will last, it would be good to get my CSCS card.” – Eugienie (Step Up Construction Alumni pictured below)
Interested? If you would like to hear about how to get onto our next Step Up Construction programme, use the contact form and one of our Coaching team will be in touch to get you booked on, or drop an email to info@yessuffolk.co.uk!
So what can you expect?
Over the 2 weeks, you’ll gain vital employability skills, your CV (if you have one!) will get a re-vamp, and you’ll hear directly from industry professionals on how to best prepare for an interview. In addition to this, you’ll explore various career routes within Construction, and even gain career insights from local employers. All whilst working towards your L1 Health & Safety Certificate, which is a necessary requirement of sitting the CSCS card test.
The programme has a blended delivery, which basically means some elements will be online with Tony, and others will be delivered face-to-face at one of our learning centres (either in Lowestoft or in Ipswich).
How does the funding work?
Once we’ve got you through the L1 Health and Safety, we will also fully fund the fee to obtain the CSCS Card, which is what you’ll need to begin your career on-site, support you to coordinate the online CSCS test and, all being well, you’ll pass this and be able to get your CSCS Card.
