Pathway to Apprenticeships

Apprenticeships Suffolk current participant journey demonstrates there is currently little provision for those who come to the service and require further support to access an apprenticeship opportunity.

Therefore, the new participant journey will show an extended pathway for those who have been referred to Apprenticeships Suffolk and received an initial call from our Participant Advisor to establish needs, barriers and are identified as not apprenticeship ready as they require additional support. Instead of been referred back to initial stakeholder or signposted elsewhere and closed to our service, they can remain a part of Apprenticeships Suffolk.

Inspire have been awarded the contract to deliver Pathway to Apprenticeships. They will provide 1-1 support through an allocated employment coach and offer group activities and workshops to create a wraparound holistic support, coaching and mentoring service to enable participants to become ‘apprenticeship ready’. This service will support individuals with basic skills, confidence, employability skills, well-being and any other barriers preventing them from progressing into a sustainable apprenticeship opportunity.

This person-centred programme can be between 4-12 weeks and tailored to the individuals needs and circumstances. Once the individual has received the support they needed from Inspire they will re-engage with Apprenticeships Suffolk and the Participant Advisor will either register them with our service as apprenticeship ready and receive ongoing support, or they can be referred into externally delivered programmes like the Adult Learning Service, Work Well Suffolk, FE Colleges, Kickstart, or internship. This will be recorded and can be monitored to ensure they remain in EET.

Pathway to Apprenticeships aims to address any barriers to the creation of quality apprenticeships or alternative EET and allows us to keep track and support individuals not quite apprenticeship ready, in turn preventing non-engagement and avoiding them becoming NEET.

If you wish to find out more and how to refer onto this project please contact apprenticeships@suffolk.gov.uk or speak to our Participant Advisor about next steps.
