In Partnership with Apprenticeship Suffolk

As this week is National Apprenticeship week, we are delighted to announce that we are working in partnership with Apprenticeship Suffolk to pilot a project to help address any barriers young people may face on their journey into apprenticeships.

Previously, it had been identified that there is a gap within Apprenticeships Suffolk’s provision to support non-apprenticeship ready participants, aged 16+. The service found that many young people were being held back as they did not have a Level 2 in Maths and/or English, lacked confidence, and in some cases simply didn’t have the work experience they needed to move onto their next steps.

With the support of Apprenticeships Suffolk, YES will be working closely with these applicants to help them realise their ambitions and build the skills they need to make successful applications. We are pleased to be combining our knowledge to help close the gap within the apprenticeship provision and enable young people to enter the workplace.

As part of the project, young people will have their own dedicated YES coach, who will be with them right through until they are in secure employment. The YES service will help those young people to gain a sense of independence, build their employability and confidence, and learn to manage their mental health in a positive way, so they feel ready to take on the world!

As a charity, we fundamentally believe sustained outcomes are the most valuable in terms of young people making a success of their lives and demonstrating the real impact of our work and we can’t wait to help even more young people access this worthwhile path to employment.

To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, Apprenticeship Suffolk have a wide variety of events which any young person can take part in. Check out their time table here:  National Apprenticeship Week (padlet.com)
