Great News! Update: 001
It’s been a busy start to the year for YES. Already, we’ve seen 20 outcomes for our clients, and lots of great opportunities opening up, particularly in the retail sector, which you can find over on our jobs board.
Inspire’s Team Programmes have kicked off in Ipswich, Clacton, Haverhill and Lowestoft with some adrenaline filled residentials, designed to put our learners’ skills to the test. The teams have been tackling an obstacle course and working as a team to complete puzzles and a Search and Rescue drill. They’re now getting started on planning their very own social action projects, raising funds to power their ideas for making a change in their communities. There are some great ideas so far, such as renovating community areas and creating care packages to bring a little kindness to those going through tough times.
A shoutout to ‘L’ this month who completed our Step Up Healthcare course and has just started a kickstart position as an NHS Nursing Assistant. We are thrilled to have played a part in helping her get started in a career she loves and hope she continues to grow in this role and enjoy this new path.
We also wanted to show some appreciation for ‘J’ who came on our Step Up Digital course and has just accepted a brilliant opportunity in Colchester as a trainee game designer at a games event company. Again, a great example of young people reaching their ambitions and thriving in their new careers – we love to see it.
Our coaches have also had some glowing feedback from Sean, who participated in Team last year. He explained to us, “my life was nothing really. I had recently moved up from London. I had lived there all my life, so I had anxiety as I had no friends up here.” Since doing the programme Sean has said, “I got a bit more confidence and I can talk to people. I would think in my head before about the worst-case scenario for how people would respond to me but that’s not the case now. I’ve become a lot more mature.” Sean is now volunteering with the current cohort and has been credited for being a positive role model for the other young people.
We’ll leave you today with a bit of Thursday motivation to end of your week…
“Our fate lies within us; you only have to be brave enough to see it.”
