Enterprise Programme (Self Employment)

This month we start our Enterprise Project which is all about helping young people who possibly want to start their own business. We are holding workshops with business people telling their story about their journey. A select few young people from the workshops will then go onto the next phase of the project where they will be mentored by individuals who are running their own business. Any one is welcome to attend the workshops below.

Level One: Raising awareness of self-employment. these half-day workshops will give young people an insight into the advantages and opportunities of being self-employed. The workshop aims to share knowledge to give awareness of self-employment and raise the aspirations of those who have never considered self-employment. Workshops will be delivered by local self-employed business people with engaging stories to tell.

Level Two:

10 ‘graduates’ of our Level One workshop will then take a part in a part-time 6-week course which develops the skills and knowledge needed to become self-employed whilst building on the talent and business idea of the participant. The course will run 2 days a week, 1-day being classroom-based, the second with their mentor. The final week will run all 5 days and be an intensive run-up to the Enterprise Live days. Participants will be assigned a business mentor who will work with them and support them on their journey to the live day and towards self-employment. They will also receive the opportunity to pitch for a carefully managed monetary investment (up to £250) to help launch their Enterprise Live business with the intention that the investment would be returned with a targeted profit, as part of their business planning process.
