Ipswich
Joe has been with our Inspire services for a while now and his progress has been immense
Joe first presented himself as an unsure young person not knowing what direction to take in his life.
Joe started Team programme back in September 2022 Joe and very quickly became an integral member of team, especially during the teams residential at X adventures. Joe immersed himself into the tasks and really performed well. At times Joe was the glue that held the team together when everyone was feeling tired and cold Joes funny nature would lighten the mood within the team.
Also, while on Team Joe managed to secure himself a work placement at Mind Charity shop in Ipswich for two weeks, he never missed a day. The manager at the charity shop was extremely impressed with Joes attendance and hard work during his placement showing some great character and allowing Joe to gain the vital experience he lacked within employment.
Joe successfully completed his Princes Trust Team Programme with flying colours, and his family attended the presentation everyone was very proud of his achievements in such a small space of time. While on the programme Joe was able to make some new friends which he is still in touch with now
After finishing Team programme Joe came back into the Youth Employment Service and together with Matt the Youth Employment Coach, they completed plenty of face-to-face meetings to work on some areas of support Joe needed, these mainly being working on his communication and interview skills. They also found some time to work on Joe’s CV which has massively helped with where Joe is now. Matt and Joe worked on that together while Joe also kept himself busy by applying for a variety of jobs, he even had a few interviews. Even though some of these were unsuccessful they gave Joe even more valuable experience. Joe has said “it helped a lot I had 1-1’s and progressed my communication skills”
After a few weeks Joe got an interview at Toby Carvery he did well and was offered the job as a Kitchen Assistant which he did for a month. Joe has since changed employment and works at JD sports he really loves it there as he is really into his trainers and sportswear so it’s a perfect fit for him. Joe alongside working has become a regular at our Social Space Programme and has attended every week.
Comments from Joe:
“If you are like me or any other people, there is no judgement – it’s just a really nice place and a good place to be where you can speak to them about anything you want. If I was to give it a rating, I’d give it 10/10”
